This year, instead of supporting GOAL, we are looking more to our needs at home. Hence we have decided that the annual run/walk around the ring road this year, would be in support of Crumlin's Children Hospital.
This is primarily a fun event and the main purpose is to get people out and get some exercise. There is no entry fee but any donations on the day, will be forwarded directly to the charity. All the details are on the poster attached.

The AXA Raheny 5 road race will be held on Sunday, January 29. Entry fee €20. Enter online at www.rahenyshamrock.ie.
NO LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED ON THE DAY.

All,
Please find details of a cross country race programme that is coming up soon.
The event is run by Dunleer AC, but it is held in Darver, which is nearer to Ardee. We supported this event last year and we will be supporting it again this year. We may be able to get a few teams together for the various races.
As you can see there is something for all ages and the entry fee is minimal. Dunleer is a long established club and are very welcoming to all.

All,
We are organising a fun day for the club, to celebrate the end of one season and to mark the start of the cross country season.
We are hoping that anyone who took part in training, competitions, or simply supported the club over the past couple of years would come out and enjoy a family day out.
As normal we will try to keep the cost of these things to a minimum.
If you are interested in the day, will you revert by email or by text to Mary or Seamus.

A total of 59 athletes turned up to take part in this year's Community Games competition in Lusk. On a fine sunny day the competition was fierce.
The track races for Girls and Boys were first on the card and we had a total of 19 races, starting with the Under 6 toddlers race and finishing at Under 16 1500m. In the Field events there was competition for the Under 12s to Under 16s in Javelin, Discus, Long Jump, High Jump, Ball throw, Shot Putt and Long Puck.
Well done to all who competed and congratulations to the winners in each event. Many thanks to all who helped in the preparation and on the day. Thanks also to Lusk National School for the use of the school field. Training for all those intending to go forward to Santry will be held each Tuesday at 7pm and Thursday at 7:30pm.
Click here for a full list of the medalists.

Please find a notice and range of events planned for next Sunday afternoon.
While we will be making every effort to get the message out through the primary schools and other sports clubs, we will struggle to get the message out to Secondary schools age athletes.
So if you know someone who would be interested in taking part, please feel free to pass on the message.
On the day and beforehand, we would also appreciate any help you can give to set-up, run and tidy-up after the event.

There will be no Little Athletics training on Tuesday 15th. The club is walking in the parade on the 17th - see you all there.
Also please note: Originally the Thursday night sessions were primarily set up for the teenage and adult runners to run at their own pace - for the time being we will be returning to this policy. Therefore, Thursday nights will be focussed on the "meet and train" philosophy - i.e. those attending meet and run or walk under their own supervision.
In this regard the mentors from the club will not be taking charge of younger athletes. However younger athletes are welcome, as long as they have a guardian to supervise them. The same philosophy applies to the Sunday morning run in Ardgillan at 11:30am.
A number of events for families are coming up in the near future, the Dunboyne run and the Great Ireland run. Check out the website for details.
At all levels of the club we need to have more parents involved, either directly in coaching roles or in the admin functions of the club. Most children attending the club are brought to and from the training sessions by adults - what we are asking for is, for some of those adults to remain at the training and actively take part in the club. It is only with the support of parents that the club can grow and propser -so please come forward and offer whatever help you can.
Your in sport,
Seamus.

There is a very good race day coming up on Sunday the 13th February - Ras na hEeireann. This is a famous and long in existance event.
This year it will be held at the Battle of the Boyne site (just beyond the new bridge on the Drogheda bypass), which is just up the road from us.
It there is sufficient interest we will be able to enter teams for some of the events. We will have further details closer to the event, but for now it would be good to know just who might be interested. So, please revert if you are interested.

The training for the older kids resumes on Tuesday 11th. It will be Tuesday the 18th before the Little Athletics starts back.
We would welcome adults also to the training on the Tuesday nights. There are a wide range of abilites among those who already run with the club, so there is plenty of opportunity to get in with someone of your own ability.

See you on Tuesday night at 7pm.
Seamus.

Well done to all who turned out on the 2nd of January to take part in this year's Goal run, in Lusk. This charity event raised much needed funds for Goal. The course around the ring road was just over two miles and the first man home was Shane McNally for the second year in a row. Emma Dennis was first of the ladies home.

Happy New year,
Seamus.
