Due to the lack of thaw, we will have to postpone the Goal run to Sunday the 2nd January at 12:45pm. Hopefully the weather and roads will be better by then. It will be a good test of your New Year's resolution to get out and get fit on the 2nd day of the new year.

Remember the Goal run on St. Stephen's day, Sunday 26th at 12:45. All are welcome to just turn up and take part. The start and finish will be outside Lusk National School. The course will be a lap of the ring road..
Please feel free to tell others who may be interested in getting out on the day. We will also have some leaflets on the fit4life programme that we are planning to start up within the Club in the coming year.

The Older athletics group will be training on Tuesday night at 7pm. For a change we will be running the ring-road. There is no Little Athletics this week.
The awards night and the Halloween party is on Friday 29th at 7:30. Awards will be given out to all these who recently took part in the Cross Country Leagues and those who competed in the Little Athletics competition.
The party is fancy dress and will go on to 9:30pm.
Anyone who can help decorate the hall is welcome to come at 7pm

There is a little athletics training course happening this weekend in Raheny. This wasn't well advertised so apologies for the late notice. The course starts at 9:15 and will probably finish by 4:30pm. It is a great course for anyone to do, even for training the older kids. If there is anyone who you know is interested, can you let them know. As usual we will pay for 2/3rds of the cost. If you let me know, I can contact AAI re application forms. There is also a Level 1 course this weekend and the following weekend in Donore. These take place over 4 days.

We have to pre-enter all runners who want to take part and all athlete's details must be included. This means that all must be registered with the Athletics Association of Ireland. If you are interested in taking part in these, contact Seamus Flynn (086)-8519306 or sign up at the training sessions this week.
The entry fee for these events is €4.
If an athlete or team of athletes do well in this competition then they progress to the All Ireland competitions

Inaugural GR8 DUNDRUM RUN which takes place on October 16th in Dundrum, Co. Down. If you are not familiar with the area it is a beautiful place, (where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea). The 8.4 mile race will be run amidst stunning scenery, some of the best in Nothern Ireland

The triathlon is on Sunday 1st August in Dun Laoghaire Harbour in aid of Focus Ireland, the homelessness charity.
We are looking for volunteers to help us marshal all aspects of the event, but in particular members from athletic clubs who would already be familiar with a race of this kind and how it is run. There is an early start involved on the day; volunteers would be expected to arrive at the harbour from 5:30am onwards so that everyone is in place for the start of the race. Next weekend is extremely busy from a Juvenile competition point of view. In Santry we have the Community games on the 3rd & 4th. In Tullamore we have the National Championships on the 3rd & 4th July.
And, on the 4th of July there is a family sports days in Farmleigh for anyone who is interested. Details are on the Athletic Ireland website www.athleticsireland.ie. For anyone not competing in the community games, this could be a good day out.
With so much competition we need to recover as many bibs as we can, so that we will have enough for the athletes next weekend. If you have a bib, can you bring it back on Tuesday night?

is a full, half and relay marathon for runners/walkers that traverses the beautiful bog landscape of east Co. Roscommon. It is largely on small tarmacked roads, bog tracks and grassy tracks and is flat/undulating with few sneaky hills.
It is on 24th July 2010 and starts at 9a.m. in Strokestown Park House. The charity partner is Bothar, the Livestock Aid specialists. For information and registration see www.thebogtrottersmarathon.ie.

We are delighted to provide you with some information about our 2010 Womens Mini Marathon Galway which is taking place along Salthill on Sunday 27th June. This will be the second year of the event, and already there is a lot of interest amongst ladies of all ages wishing to take part.
We would greatly appreciate if you, your friends, family or colleagues would join us in what is going to be a great event. Next Saturday is the start of this year's track and field events for all kids from U10s to U19s There will be a series of events between now and the end of June, mainly on Friday evenings in Tallaght, Santry or Irishtown. All registered members can take part - all you need to bring is €3.
If anyone wants to compete, you can just turn up on Saturday in Tallaght from 11am to 2pm. We will be at the Tallaght Athletic Club - if you need directions call 086 8519306.
The events range from 60m to 1500m races and Long jump, high jump, shot putt, Javelin, Ball throw etc are all there as well.
Athletes born in the year 2001 are under 10s this year
Athletes born in the year 2000 are under 11s this year and so on.
Even if you do not want to compete, we could do with the support and you can how well these events are run - so come along if you are free.
On a final note, there are alot of Lusk Athletes running in the Great Ireland run on Sunday in the Phoenix Park. They could do with your support and what better way to enjoy a Sunny Sunday.

As the sports enthusiasts’ charity, GOAL is encouraging as many people as possible to consider running the Women’s Mini-Marathon for GOAL on Bank Holiday Monday, June 7th, and raise as much money as possible for those most in need across the developing world.

Details of this year’s KBC Asset Management St. Patrick’s 5K Festival Road Race have been announced. The event will take place in Dublin on Sunday, 14th March beginning at 12.00 noon from the Mansion House where it will be officially started by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr. Emer Costello.
From there it will follow a route through Georgian Dublin returning again to the finish line at the Mansion House. Please click on link to see the website

Dublin football star Jason Sherlock has signed up with the Hospice Harriers to take part in the Great Ireland Run on Sunday 18th April in the Phoenix Park.
Online entries are continuing to pour in through www.greatirelandrun.org and a striking feature of the entries so far is that unlike previous years women are outnumbering men

Drogheda is host to the GOAL Boyne Valley 10K on Sunday 2 May 2010 10:00am. The event starts off at the Battle of the Boyne, Oldbridge (also location of Ras na hEireann in February). The route is a reasonably flat route with 1 hill at the 3k mark, running into and around Drogheda.
Drogheda and District Athletic Club are supporting the event and look forward to welcoming runners from all over the country. 100% of the entry fee goes to the GOAL charity to assist with their life saving activities in Darfur and Uganda. For further details and entry form check our website.
