Welcome to Lusk Athletic Club

Since reforming in the Spring of 2009, the club has steadily grown. For children aged 6 to 8 we offer the Little Atletics programme which is a foundation level and gives the children the ability to develop the speed and agility that forms the basis for all future development.

The older children and teenagers are provided with the skills that they need to become fit and healthy athletes. We actively support those who wish to take part in competition that will allow them rise to the best of their ability. All athletics events are catered for, such as Sprints, Hurdles, Middle-distance running, Cross-country, Shot-putt, Discuss, Javellin, Long-jump, High-jump, Pole-vault,

For adults, we encourage all ages to get out, get involved, get fit and when ready to take part in the many events available to them.

Our philosophy is to get active, feel alive and above all, have fun.

Upcoming Courses

A number of courses are available in the coming weeks.

On 13/2/12 we will be holding a Code of Ethics course for all mentors working with Juveniles. Please revert to Colm McNally or myself to book a place on this.

Also, A Little Athletics mentors course is planned for Saturday 3rd March in Raheny. This course will give you the confidence to plan and provide training to the 6-8 year olds within the club. An Assistant Coaches course is planned for 24th March in Donore Harriers club house, Dublin. This course provides an excellent basic course for anyone working with Juveniles from 9 to 19.

A Level-1 training course is planned for the 24th & 25th February and 9th & 10th March. This course is held over 4 sessions and provides an internationally recognised qualification in coaching. It will provide you with the skills needed to train athletes in all the events, that make up athletics.

For anyone wishing to take part in these courses, online registration will be available in the coming days.

If you have any queries on any of these courses, please contact me at 086 8519306 or this email. Although some people have already indicated that they would wish to uptake some of these courses, it would be good to know the level of interest in these among clubs members. So, please let me know and I will try to accomadate as best I can.

The policy of the club is to cover 2/3rds of the cost of these courses. Typically the Level-1 course cost is €60 with €40 being paid by the club. Assistant coach and Little Athletics course are typically €40 and again 2/3rds covered by the club.

With good coaching you will feel more confident about the programmes you deliver. It will give you the ability to develop your children's skills and your own knowledge base of sport/health issues.

Regards, Seamus.
